Congenital renal arteriovenous malformation presenting as severe hypertension.

چکیده
Hypertensive patients presenting at the extremes of age may have a secondary cause of hypertension. Congenital arteriovenous malformation (AVM) and acquired arteriovenous fistula (AVF) are rare causes of secondary hypertension w1–10x. Acquired AVFs tend to be single linear connecting vessels and comprise 70–80% of renal arteriovenous abnormalities and usually result from trauma, biopsy, surgery, malignancy, or inflammation w1,3x. Congenital AVM is described as crisoid with a knotted, tortuous appearance of numerous feeding vessels, and multiple interconnecting fistulas; however, a variant called ‘angiomatous’ AVM has a single vessel feeding multiple small interconnecting vessels w1,4x. We present a case of hypertension secondary to congenital AVM managed by superselective embolization and a brief review of the literature.

Renal arteriovenous malformation presenting with massive hematuria
Renal arteriovenous malformations are abnormal communications between the intrarenal arterial and venous systems. They are a rare cause of hematuria. Color Doppler ultrasonography, multislice CT angiography, and DSA are important tools for making the diagnosis. We describe the case of a 62-year-old man with renal arteriovenous malformation who presented with gross hematuria.

A 23-day-old preterm baby (1900 g) presenting with severe hypoxemia secondary to a large pulmonary arteriovenous malformation (PAVM), diagnosed by thoracic computed tomography (CT), was referred to our department. He was born at 32 weeks of gestation weighing 1945 g and, after birth, presented with severe hypoxemia (peripheral oxygen saturation [SpO2] 65%). The cardiac assessment was unremarkab...
متن کاملCongenital renal arteriovenous malformation presenting with gross hematuria after a routine jog: a case report
INTRODUCTION Congenital renal arteriovenous malformations are abnormal communications between the intrarenal venous and arterial systems. An unusual cause of massive gross hematuria and an even rarer cause of hemodynamically significant anemia, its presentation remains variable from incidental imaging findings to severe hypertension and congestive heart failure. CASE PRESENTATION We present a...
متن کاملTreatment of hematuria caused by renal arteriovenous malformation in pregnant patients.
This study is to investigate hematuria in pregnant patients caused by renal arteriovenous malformation and to evaluate the efficacy of superselective renal angiography and embolization used for treatment of renal arteriovenous malformation. Two cases of hematuria in pregnant patients caused by renal arteriovenous malformation were enrolled. Case 1 was a 28-year-old woman with repeatedly intermi...

Background: Cerebral arteriovenous malformations are rare congenital anomalies presenting as different symptoms depending on their size and the age of patient. Congestive heart failure is a rare condition in neonatal period and is most common due to structural heart defects, but rarely may be a result of peripheral shunts such as cerebral arteriovenous malformation. Case presentation: A term...
